Big Island South is a slightly different place than Big Island North. The entire southern part of the island is beach terrain, sand bars extending out into the ocean. Several totems can be seen jutting from these, as this is where the Garrose go to praise their water gods. It's less residential, but sometimes considered a spectacle for tourists to go see. Here are also the carving shops, for wood utensils, totems, and surf boards. It's said the original Witch Doctor lived here.

Kogo was falling asleep. As he frequently did during this time of day. His hammock rocking back and fourth with the wind as the tide rolled in. It was midday and the sun was high, he cracked open an eye and peered over to the nearest totem and judged from the shadow it cast that it was exactally 2:00. Perfect. He rolled out of the hammock and plopped onto the cool sand underneath his sleeping spot. He layed there for a few minutes before slowly getting to his feet. He yawned, and stretched up towards the sun and smiled.

"Mmmm...nice day..."

Kogo reached down to his left and grabbed his bamboo fishing poll. A sturdy, trusty rod with twined rope and a large, ominous looking hook crudely tethered to the end.
He then tossed the rod into the air and snatched it up with his tail which gripped around the center of the poll. Being none too worried about the reprocussions of dashing down a beach at breakneck speed, weilding a bamboo poll fixed with a huge rusty hook, he set off towards the water.

The beach was empty, for the most part. The waves delicate lapping against the shoreline was the only sound to be heard. Kogo slowed down as he neared the edge of the beach, forcing himself upright. He stood and cracked his neck, pulled on his rice hat, and tilted it foreward to sheild his eyes from the sun. He inhailed deeply and reached into the pouch nearest his left hip and pulled out a small purplish fruit and popped it into his mouth. He waited. A few minutes passed, kogo cocked his head to the left and frowned.

"Maybe, dat fruit wasn' ripe yet...bettah go fah' a nuddah- "

The fruits effects hit the witchdoctor and his eyes went wide.

"Wooooaaaaggggghhhh....."

A small spittle of drool hung from his jutting bottom lip and clung there untill it dropped to the ground, being immediatly replaced by another.

And there Kogo stood, blankly staring into the sea for an hour or so. He began comming down as a huge broad smile encompassed his sleepy face.
he bent down as if to touch his toes and firmly planted his head on the ground. Then, with a light kick he flipped over and landed on his rump, sitting upright. His tail cocked back and let the line fly, landing gingerly on the glassy water before it sunk into the deep.

Kogo looked around and squinted as he reached into his pouch and popped another jubjub plumb into his mouth...and waited.

Rush stepped over to Kogo, picking him up lightly by the head. It was the fourth comatose monkey he had met on this island, and he hoped it would be the right comatose monkey.

"Hey, are you the Witch Doctor?"

"I need a very specific root, and I was told to come to you."

He smiled. At least it was getting somewhere, maybe he'd be able to relax after all...

Upon hearing the strange man butcher the name of the the sacred herb, and the fact that it is damn near impossable to find...Kogo's eyes widend as he gripped his stomach and burst out laughing. Flinging fruity saliva all over the human.

"Bahahahah! Bara-too-koo!" he managed to spew out the words between the over-the-top guffaws "No no no nonononono nooooo00o000oooo0oo0ooo....Da root ju be lookin fo be named Baratuku-fuifuicoomen sumoyah'et uutakahmung-a-sumpooket quemboloota sembolo e'hakembra saratembolo kahmentrembenda...le"

Rush hesitantly picked the drool off of himself.

"Yeah... That one... Can you help me find it or not?"

This might be a long day, after all...

Kogo motioned to the vast, deep blue sky and began waving his hand as if to paint the moon and the planets all in procession.

"Ju be luckin' out bruddah....dat time o' year be commin' hot on da tails of yo' arrival 'ere"

Kogo began to wonder if this human even knew half of what he'd have to go through to get this root. And even if he knew...the chance of it being there was incredibly unlikely.
Then, Kogo smiled.

"If ju pass muh test...I'll take ju to da root...but only ONLY if ju pass..."

The witchdoctor smiled and lept onto the strange mans back, clinging to him tightly.

"And we off!"

Just as he pointed over the humans shoulder with his right hand, he slipped a jubjub plumb out of his pouch and plowed it into the mans mouth.

He didn't know what he had just eaten, but he knew now that there was definitely a monkey on his back.

"Where to?"

Kogo points over yonder in the direction of the setting sun...to where the sandbars, riddled with totems reside.

"Mmm...go 'dere, to weah da furthest-est totem pole be. Dere we will begin."

He ruffled the mans hair and then slapped him on the cheek.

"Go Go Gooo0o0o!"

Rush ran, which was starting to seem like a worse and worse idea.

"Yeah, man, I get it... Totem pole..."

He looked around, trying to keep his balance. There was something strange going on...

"What'd you put in my mouth?"

Kogo dismissed the question immediatly as he was munching on a hefty sized plum himself.

Rush would have corrected him, but he was too busy swimming.

Well, that, and getting his head dunked underwater by a monkey on psychedelics.

This was a strange day, he thought.

And the purple little elephants swimming next to him would probably agree.

Kogo sat upright on the mans back as they neared the shoreline, his eyes glazed over and his ears perked up.

Rush climbed up to the beach, and his clothes felt heavy.

He pulled most of them off, letting the water dry from the sun, and his tattoo-speckled chest was revealed.

He looked over at the monkey, trying to determine which of the three he saw was the real one.

"Hey, one of you should give me that berry..."

Kogo grinned and reached into the pouch nearest his left thigh, fumbling about and mumbling to himself.

"hrmshrmhmehr...Ahhah! Found ja, sneeky sneek!"

He then placed the light green oval shaped berry into the humans outstretched hand.

"Now...Maow...."

Kogo smirked and thought "Heh...human don't be knowin' dat dah unripened berry from dah jubjub tree be MO' potent den one dat had seen mo' days."
