Escher's Maze

The labyrinthine walls of Escher's Maze distort not only the perception, but even physics themselves. Stairs that run upside down, and catacombs that seem to dive forever...

However, if one is to take a leap of faith, they will find that the system runs on the fact that there is no gravity in the center of the maze.

And if someone should happen to wander far enough to get lost in the maze with no hope of return, there lies the giant door to Gravity City.

John Lockheart stumbled through the catacombs, not really sure where he was going and not really caring. He had to find his brother, Fenrus. Anyone who would take him would have had to leave through this, the natural defense of their village. The chances that he'd find him in this maelstrom of passageways were little to none, but he pushed on, determined nevertheless to reclaim his brother.

I won't let it happen again... They won't hurt him again...

Adara walked into the maze and slowed her pace hoping Leon had followed her. Not knowing the area she tapped her bare foot on the ground a few times until she could follow the vibrations enough to know where to go without hitting a wall.
"John?" She said outloud hoping he would be able to hear her in this place.

John turned a corner, and found a wall. He groaned.

He thought he heard his name, but he didn't know from where, and convinced himself it was just him hearing things.

"Fuck. I'm so goddamn impulsive, it's gonna be the death of me."

And hopefully not the death of Fenrus, he thought bitterly.

Walking slowly Adara would take a few silent steps and tap her foot. It might be slow walking but she could 'see' where the walls are this way.
I hope you haven't gotten yourself into trouble.

"John I know you are here." Said Adara a little louder. "I can feel your steps. Follow my voice."

John stopped for a moment.

"Is someone there?"

He turned around, continuing to walk.

Hearing John's voice faintly Adara said, "It's me! Adara!"

"Adara!?"

Wasn't she going to leave with that guy? Why's she looking for me?

He stumbled, moving more quickly towards her.

"I'm right here!" said Adara. She stopped moving so that John could find her easier. She brushed her blonde hair to the side again and wauted to hear a response.


She hoped Leon had followed her.

John turned the corner, looking at her. He was thoroughly confused.

"Adara, why the hell are you here? You could get hurt!"

He looked down.

"You, of all people, should know better than to go into the maze!"

Folding her arms Adara turned to him slightly annoyed.
"I have been hurt before, I'm not afraid of that. Besides, I have ways to heal wounds if needed. And I'm here for two reasons. 1. You rushed out of there so suddenly I knew something had happened and you could get hurt. and 2. you know I wantt to feel the outside world." Said Adara strongly.

"You came looking for me?"

His anger was subsiding, at least for her.

He still had to find his brother.

"Why... Would you do that?"

Adara shrugged. "I already told you why." She turned so that she was looking at the wall.
"Now we just need to find our way out of this maze. If you can handle walking slowly I can get us out of here in a straight shot." Adara said smirking, knowing that John would be happy to make it out with no wrong turns but angry that it would be slow moving.

John sighed. He obviously couldn't leave her here, so the only way to go was up and out.

"I have a better idea."

He took her hand, pulling on it, and leading her closer to him, and then pulled her onto his back, facing away from her.

"We'll be able to move faster this way."

Not to mention, John didn't know heads or tails about this place alone.

He looked up.

"But Oracle, why do you care if I'm injured?"

"You may have been protecting the city for your brother's sake but you still protected us. So in turn you protected me. Course I care." Being lifted on to his Adara blushed at the indecency since she was wearing an elegant dress. "John! Please put me down....I can't feel the ground or help get us out of here like this..."

John groaned.

"There's really no alternative to you moving on your own?"

He set her down, and then turned around to see her blush, and realized a little of what had happened.

"Oh... Um... I'm sorry."

He looked down.

"It's alright and thank you." Said Adara as she brushed her dress down.

Instead, he took her hand, looking at her.

"Alright, where do we need to go from here, then?"

Looking down when he took her hand Adara tapped the ground with her foot a few times.
"This way. Just follow my lead." adara started to walk and pulled John with her and hoping Leon was still there.

After a few moments of walking Adara chuckled and said "so, how does it feel to be lead by the blind?"

"Much like the rest of my life."

John laughed quietly.

"How does it feel to finally leave your house?"

Adara stopped again and tapped her foot then started walking again.
"It's both frightening and exciting. I hate to say it but if this situation had not arisen I might not have ever left."

"Aren't you a little bit concerned about surviving?"

John's expression morphed into an inquisitive one.

"Mmmmm, guess I didn't really think of it. But you are here and so is Leon I believe. Besides, is the world that bad that people would seek to harm a young, blind girl?" Said Adara jokingly and she chuckled a bit.

John sighed.

"I wish it wasn't..."

Adara frowned slightly and stopped tapping her foot and then walking again.
"What do you mean?"
